Currently, many low-dimensional physical systems allow exploiting the fundamental characteristics of interactions in the quantum regime. In this presentation, we will review some characteristics of four possibilities for operating physical systems where the radiation–matter interaction plays a fundamental role. In particular, we will show how these concepts can be applied to producing polaritonic quantum vortices in interacting systems of optical microcavities containing quantum wells in the low excitation regime.
